This past weekend was full of activity for Christine and Max's wedding. Emily, Kari, Hilde, Kristen, and I all traveled to Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin on Thursday and met Christine at the Timberline Inn. We unpacked, got drinks and ate a delicious dinner at Aurora Borealis, and then headed to the Wahlskog's house in Presque Isle. The house has sold and will no longer be theirs on July 20th, so this is most likely the last time that we will be in it. I was sad to say goodbye to the lakehouse because we have some very good memories there. I can't imagine how hard it is for the Peterson/Wahlskog clan as they clean out the house that Christine's grandpa built.
Thursday night, we ended up just hanging out in our hotel rooms at the Timberline Inn and had some fun in the jacuzzi before bed.
On Friday, we woke up fairly early, enjoyed donuts and coffee at the hotel, and then headed over to the Discovery Center to set up. The day was long, but very rewarding. We arrived at 11am to a huge, empty tent on the lawn and left at almost 5pm with a beautiful reception place ready to go! The girls helped with flowers, arranged and set up table decorations, handled the amazing puff balls, and rode around the grounds in style on a 6 seater golfcart. The boys were troopers, setting up a second tent, the bar, the dance floor, hauling tables and chairs, and hanging all of the twinkle lights.
A few hours later, we returned to the Discovery Center for the rehearsal
and a fish fry. My favorite accessory for the wedding was the beer
trailer which we were able to enjoy friday through sunday. Free beer
24/7 is always a nice treat!
The rest of the girls arrived during dinner and we spent a little bit of time with them in the Badger bunkhouse before we all headed over to the street dance in Manitowish Waters. The band called Christine up on stage and announced her impending marriage. After she left the stage, there was a nice fireworks display to end the night.
Saturday morning, we woke up, ate breakfast at Village Cafe across the street with all of the girls, and started getting ready in the Timberline Inn conference room. Christine's friend Becky did our hair and we sipped on mimosas as it was pouring rain outside. It was no surprise to us that our bride stayed cool, calm, and collected throughout the day and the rain. (Quite unlike the picture below, when Emily did her hair for the rehearsal).
The wedding began at 4pm on Saturday. Pictures were taken in the rain without too much hassle, but we were really hoping that the ceremony wouldn't need to be moved under the tent. Thankfully, Kari brought good news while we were hiding in our secret room in the lodge and we were able to begin as planned, outside. The Discovery Center was the perfect location for the wedding. I was too preoccupied to snap any photos during the ceremony and reception, but below are a few of the gorgeous location.
Hilde Grahnat was the photographer for the wedding weekend and she has a preview posted on her blog today. They are sooo beautiful and I can't wait to see the rest!
